Ready for PPN Code

PPN Code System m600 Advanced PPN

19.04.2012 So far, all medical products in Germany have the IFA-registered PZN as a barcode. This alone will not be enough to meet the requirements of the EU Directive 2011/62/EU, which demands an authentication facility for patient protection. The PZN is to be phased out and superseded presumably either by the GS1 Datamatrix code or by a newly developed so-called PPN code.

Both code types enable electronically readable coding of sales packages, indicating the product number and additional data items such as batch designation, expiry date, and serial number. The Wolke m600 advanced  coding system is already capable of printing GS1 Datamatrix and PPN codes on packages of medical products in high resolution and with an excellent readability for vision systems. So far, no decision has been made as to which code is to be stipulated by law. According to the manufacturer, users of the printer are well prepared in any case for implementation of the EU Directive 2011/62/EU.
